PHOTOGRAPHER : Self REMARKS AND/OR STORY : I had just finished my ‘69 Dart and working for 4 yrs. on our Coronet and Dart, and felt like taking a winter off. Sue spotted this car and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. I buy the car and do the work, and she would pay for the parts. It ran but the brakes were bad and carb needed rebuild. One thing lead to another, as it always does, and 2years later the car looks the same but sure isn’t. I took the body off, sand blasted and painted the frame. The frame was cut off behind the front wheels. A new sub-frame was made and welded to the old frame to fit a K member from a Volare’. The car was rewired for 12 volts, floor boards replaced, a bracket for the tilt steering and power brake pedal made. New brackets to hold the front bumper and radiator were made. The 5 gauges (21/4’’ each) were fitted into 7’’. It was a challenge to say the least. The coupe still needs a lot of work. Future plans include repainting and redoing the interior. Sue as kept true to her word, even though she complains about it not being the same car I had bought (the flatheads gone). If you look at the lines of the car, you can see where the Ram gets it's lines from. Widen the hood, narrow the grill, push in the rear fenders and take lid off trunk, you're there. |
