Although the motorcycling is an old concept for Turkey, it started to became a rapidly growing sector since 1991.
In the beginning, it has started as few personal imports of the most popular brands.
Now, almost all of the most popular world wide motorcycle companies established their own distributor companies, furthermore some of them have local production here in Turkey.
On the other hand, many motorcycle dealers established agencies of very well known European and American motorcycle accessory brands.

We have well organized world's first motorcycled police troops (except common traffic police department) named "Yunuslar" (Dolphins) against to ordinary crimes and "Sahinler (Falcons) for traffic department.
Motorcycle is also highly common for Express Courier Services and Fast Food Delivery Restaurants in the big cities.
Motorcycle sports are also very popular in Turkey. Motocross (oldest one) , enduro and racing events has been organizing regularly by the contribution of the different sponsors and motorcycles associations.
There are two monthly issued Motorcycle magazines named "Motorbike" and "Motosiklet Dünyasi" which has considerable circulation in comparison with the volume of the motorcycle owners and fans.

Touring with motorcycle started to be a very popular action for weekends and short or long holidays for local riders as well as for foreign riders (Mostly Germans and Italians). Especially, west and south coasts of Turkey are really fascinating places and submit many different natural beauties (unpolluted sea & nice beaches)  as well as historical places and ancient cities. There are many different catagory hotels, motels, campings and restaurants with the convenient accommodation conditions. Our mobile telephone system (GSM) is easily operated almost from everywhere. Motorcycle repair shops and hiring services are also available in the big cities of the country.
Apart from the local travelers, many other Turkish motor riders travels to the different places of the World like European Countries, Afghanistan, India, Iran, Pakistan, Nepal, Japan, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Morocco, West Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal...

If you have a chance to visit the Turkey by motorbike, preferably between April and October, I highly recommend you to have a typical Turkish breakfast in "Capa Restaurant" in Rumeli Hisari Area at the Bosporus cost of Istanbul especially on sunny Sunday mornings.
