Sequential Gearboxes Given The Green Light!!

The National Sports Sedan Association have given the green light to the introduction of sequential gearboxes to all classes of Sports Sedans this includes 2 Litre Sports Sedans.

At a meeting held at the V8 Supercar meeting at Phillip Island it was agreed apon to allow the use of sequential gearboxes in the Sports Sedan class.

The main argument that was used was that considering that Sports Sedans are the least restricted class in the C.A.M.S. manual of Motorsport, it was unfair to restrict the use of such gearboxes.

Weight Limits for Sports Sedans in 2002!!

After discussions between NASSA and CAMS, it has been decided that all Sports Sedans will run to specific weight limits from January 1st 2002.

The reasoning behind this move is to discourage the use of exotic materials in the ongoing quest to build cars lighter and faster and to protect the ongoing future of the class.

Competitors have been given twelve months to modify existing vehicles and also guide those that are building new race cars.   The weight limits for each engine class are as follows and includes the drivers weight...

These affect 2 Litre...

Upto 1300cc(680Kg), 1301-1600cc(730Kg), 1601-2000cc(780Kg)

For the Outright...

2001-2500cc(830Kg), 2501-3000cc(880Kg), 3001-3500cc(930Kg), 3501-4500cc(1020Kg), 4501-5000cc(1120Kg) & 5001-6000cc(1160Kg).
