My second '66, the one I had done up, I still have. It is by far, my pride and joy. I call her
"Droopy", because of the bumpers, and because it's so low, it seems like it's looking up at you.
I wish I had some pictures that I could put up. It is a complete resto-custom. Everything is
pretty much stock, but boy did I slam it...the front anyway. The front beam is only an inch and a
half off of the ground! All stock body parts were used, bumpers included. The stock interior was
re-done in black. It even had the original 1300cc engine until the pressure plate went, but
recently I put in a professionally built 1641cc that kicks some serious a$$. That 1300 is going
back in though. It gets admiring looks, thumbs up gestures, and begins multiple conversations
that usually begin with, "I used to have a Bug..." everytime I take her out, which only happens
on nice days. Droopy is currently my only running Bug, and I am longing to be able to
drive one on a daily basis, enter my '65 beater.
My other '66, the fourth one, isn't so lucky. I have never driven it, pushed it way too much, but never driven it.
I traded Bugs to get parts, to get Bugs, to get more Bugs with parts, to get parts, to get Bugs, to
get this '66. Out of the nine plus Bugs that I have had, this one is definitely in the top three
body wise. It's pretty sweet. I'm trying to sell it, though I don't want to, but I'd rather sell
it than let it sit around and deteriorate. If you might be interested,

Well I tried, and tried to sell my '66. I begged and pleaded with people to at least come see it, and make me an offer. I was willing to drop my asking price down $300 dollars just so someone would take care of it, but no one came. All I can now say is "Thanks!!" I got to use my '65 for exactly what I bought it for, parts, and I'm going to try to do all the work, except for the engine and trans, myself. Body wise, the car is almost perfect, with no dents, and slight perforation beginning in the front wheelwells and under the gas tank. That's it! The body is very smooth, except for the front fenders, which are in the process of being replaced. The bumper mounts, front and back, are in excellent condition, and the spare tire tray has a quarter sized hole near the apron. The quarter panels are almost rust and bondo free. The only major problem is that the floor pans need replacing, which I'm going to try myself, with some help.
These are the tentative plans for the '66:
