Hawaii
May 19-26, 2001
As most of you already know, Wil, Hans, Tanya and I headed up to Hawaii for some fun in the sun. Almost everything worked out according to schedule. Heres a brief look at our days in paradise.
May 19, 2001
Arrived at Maui International Airport where we met up with Hans, Tanya and Dean. They were at the bar waiting for us. I tell you, that bar smelled jsut like Japan. It had that distinct smell. Dean was only there cause had a last minute business trip he had to go to. I was kind of bummed. I hadn't seen him in a long time and we were suppose to play some golf. Next time, next time!! Hans pulled up the car surb side to load up our luggage and I pull out the Laker flag that I had brought with me. It was pretty cool. People were giving us props wherever we went. We arrived at the hotel and our room wasn't ready so we decided to go to the pool bar to watch the Laker game. We've been in Hawaii for an hour now and already the bartender thought we were locals.
Checked into our room and it was pretty nice. Its more like a comfortable apartment than a cottage. But there were gecko's everywhere!! Wil was freaking out. That was pretty funny.
We met up with Terence and Janet to watch the supposibly best Luau of Maui. It was okay. I think the girls could have been better looking. After that we had a drink at the bar. We were all pretty drained so we called the night early.

Woke up early to play some golf with Hans at the Kapalua Village course. We only had to pay $62 for the green fee and cart cause the starters thought that we were lcoals (thats twice). That was cool. Hans and I saved $100.00. We played okay. Hans was kind of struggling. I just wasn't used to hitting a ball with a wind factor.
We went back to the hotel to meet up with Wil and Tanya. We relaxed for a while and headed out to the beach which was only 100 or so yards away. We only got an hour or so of sun but thats okay cause we spent most of our time in the water.
We were originally going to have dinner at this lobster restaurant on the resort but they were closed so we went to the mall to eat at L&L's Drive Inn. I had the chicken katsu. It was okay. The katsu was just the way I like it but the sauce was no good. Then we wet to Longs drug store to buy some hair dye for me. I've been using the rest of Wil's left over Sun Inn but it wasn't doing too much. Got back to the hotel and dyed my hair. I like it. Could be just a little lighter but it will do. Now I really look local. Played Spades for the remainder of the evening and then crashed out.

Went to Denny's in the morning to go eat some fried rice but it was super crowded so we decided to eat at this small locals restaurant called Norms. It was pretty good. From there we headed off to take a 5 hour trip on the road to Hana. Hans was behind the wheel and, well need I say more. Dean had told to take the back way so we did. The road started to get really windy so I started to get car sick. ughhh I felt pretty sick. Luckily we stopped at this winery and there was a general store accross the street and sure enough they had a grip of Dramamine. I guees alot of people get sick on that road. After a long tiring drive we finally got to Hana. It was gorgeous out there. We only saw a couple of waterfalls and one pool. We got back to the hotel pretty late. Well late meaning  6 ish. We stopped at the House of Saimin and it was gooood. Was wasn't too crazy about cause he's not much of a noodle person. So we stopped at the market after to pick up some snacks. Got back to the hotel and I felt drained. One minute I was eating chips on the bed next thing you know its 9 o'clock in the moring. I slept for like 13 hours!!!!

Woke up feeling like a new man!!!  Packed up our stuff and checked out of the hotel to catch our flight. I saw a super duper pretty fligh attendant!!!!  I couldn't keep my mouth closed but of course this flight is only to Oahu so its only a 45 minute flight. Not much time to stare at her!! haha
We arrived at the Sheraton Waikiki and they were having a hard time finding us a room. I was confused cause supposibly my room had been pre blocked. So I asked the front desk agent to call Jackie, she's a friend that I met in Orlando. Well Jackie being the cool person she is hooked us up with 2 ocean view rooms. Nice!!!!  Thanks Jackie!!!!
We went down to the concierge to see if they can book Hans and I a tee time and also to arrange a dinner show and the Dream Cruises.
We watched The Magic of Polynesia by John Hirokawa. The show was pretty good and the girls he had on there were HOT!!!!  Much better than the girls at the Luau in Maui. Then we walked the town for a little bit and ate at Peppers. Got back to the hotel and called it the night.

Woke up early to go on the Dream Cruise - Barefoot Brunch Cruise. It was a lot of fun!!  We cruised away along side the coast of Waikiki and stopped a couple miles out of the coast. The baot served breakfast and provided snorkels, a trampoline and a weenie looking thing. There was a slide that started from the second deck and into the ocean. That was one of my favorites cause they let you go down it head first. The weenie thing was fun too. It was connected to the end of the trampoline and what you had to do was try to run from one end to the other without falling off. Its a lot lot harder than it sounds. Oh, but the best part of the cruise were the girls from Seattle. I thought they were super cute with the petite bodies that I like. Hans and I were able to sneak in a couple of pictures of her.  I know I know, stalkers!!!!!  haha
Later Wil got a call from Tina Noe. she's an old friend of ours that moved to Hawaii a couple of years ago. We met up with her at the Ala Moana shopping center. We shopped at the HIC store for hours. Man did we spend a grip!!!  Luckily Tanya had Sandy's discount card. Then we ate a Bubba Gump Shrimp. We continued shopping for a bit then we headed back to the hotel to drop our stuff off and went to the beach. The sun was almost ready to set so Hans and Wil jumped in the water. Tanya and I layed out on the beach. Tanya crashed out and started snoring while I was concetrating on getting a tan. I haven't gotten much sun since I've been here so I was determined to get as much sun as I can. Then we ate at KC's Drive Inn and the rest of the evening we played spades and finished the fruit basket that Jackie had sent to me.

We ate breakfast at Rainbow Cafe. Its a small locals favorites place. I don't know what the big deal about that place was. It wasn't that great. Next we headed out to the Dole Plantation. I was pretty amped about doing the maze. But at the end I hated it. I couldn't find any of the stamp stations. I was the last to finish. Here I thought I was going to finish in 15 minutes instead it took me 45 long minutes with the sun beating down on me. Thank goodness I wore a tank top. From there we went to Matsumoto's. The whole time I was driving, we all thought that Wil knew where it was at least the general area. He kept saying that its a small shack along side the road. Well we found out that he had never been there and thats what he had heard. So we weren't sure if we were on the right road. So we stopped and asked for directions and finally found the place. Wil was right about one thing, the palce was a shack. But a busy one!!!  Four bus loads of Japanese tourist were there. The lady there showed us the log book and by 2:00 in the afternoon, there had been almost 300 Japanese guests that arrived on a bus tour. WOW!!!!  Anyways, we got our shaved ice and it was good!!!!!   Sure its only a snow cone but I guarantee you, its the best shaved ice you'll ever eat. On the way back to Waikiki, we stopped at Niketown and another HIC store for gifts that we might have missed. Plus the HIC store at Ala Moana didn't have very many selections of slippers left. So we bought them at the other store. Then we headed back to the hotel to rest up a little bit and hang out at the pool. We grabbed something small to eat from the hotel and took it back to the room. We ate light cause the plan was to go to Sanseii for sushi at around 10:00. But Hans and Tanya were pretty tired so they just wanted to stay in. Wil and I were still full so we decided to walk the streets and so a little last minute shopping at the International Market place.

Hans and I went out to play golf at the Ko Olina golf course. Man what a long round that was. Both our games were soo screwed up. I guess we got our moneys worth. It was $145 to play. Afer that we met up with Wil and Tanya to lay out at the beach. I tell you, I must be sun repelant because everytime I step outside to layout, the clouds come from no where and covers up the sun. Hans, Tanya and Wil were blamming me for all the cluody days when we layed out. I don't blame. I'm starting to believe it myself. Next we went shopping for some Hawaiin jewerly and had dinner at Chucks restaurant. It was actually pretty good, especially for the price. We were sitting right next to the glass wall which seperates the outdoor seating. And while we were eating, someone didn't know that there was glass there and tried to walk straight through it!!!!  He hit it pretty hard case it made a loud noise. Poor guy!!! sad but hella funny. After dinner we had to rush Hans and Tanya back to the airport for their departure back to LA.

Wil and I woke up and packed up for our trip home. Then we got a call from Tina wanting to meet us before we leave. So we met up with her and had the buffet breakfast at the hotel. I liked the assortmnet of food they had put out. All of my favorite dishes. Then we said our farewells and headedto the airport. Bye bye Hawaii!!!!!  I already miss the place!!!!!!!
