Nova Evolution (1962-1979)
1962
A new "compact car" enters the GM lineup as the Chevy II. An optional 194ci in-line 6 or 4 cyl. Please don't ever call it "cute"!
1963
1963 brought no change in the body style: but an altered suspension was added (making 62' suspension parts nearly impossible to find i've realized), a different grill, different electric layout, and diff. chrome emblems on the car.
1966
In '66, the body style changed and an optional 327 V8 was introduced. The chevy II becomes more sporty... very nice, I want one!!!
1969
The '69 Nova is probably the most sought after year for the car. Overall, 1969 was a good year for just about every muscle car... GTO's, Chevelles, the Mach 1 Mustang... good year to be alive!! This body style remained the same from 1968 through 1972 i believe, but '69 is my favorite year for this bodystyle.
1970
OUCH!... that hurts. My brother has a '70 like this one, but red and without the damage. It also isn't an SS. In fact it's just about as stripped down as you can get. NO options... not even a radio. But it's completely origional w/ a 250ci L6.
1974
Getting ugly!... what the hell is GM thinking???
1976
umm.... no comment.
1979
RUST BUCKET. The nova era has come to an end... actually, it came long ago - maybe even 1972. But in all honesty, the ChevyII/ Nova truely was a great car through all of it's stages as a grocery getter, late 60's muscle car, and mid to late 70's eye soar.
