The Restoration Progress Week 3

8/16/97 Saturday

Visited Estate Paint and Body today to check on the progress of the restore. The Beetle's looking pretty somber in it's present state. The rear tires with the fenders off look bowed in alot. This is a common trait with Type 1 rear ends but I think in the case of mine it might be the wrong shocks since they looked towed in to much. Also the main seal on the engine is leaking bad. V-Dubs a parts and repair place for Beetles in Irving, Texas quoted me $150 to have the engine pulled and to replace the seal. We will come back to that after the paint and body work is done.

8/20/97 Wednesday

Talked to Estate Paint and Body today about some details on the restore. They are going to pull the engine and replace the main seal so I will not need to take it to V-Dubs in Irving. Also, we agreed to undercoat the pan with Marine Coating to permanently prevent rust. Will have some more pics later this week.
