I just have to say you guys look like a fun crowd. I've always driven by Apollo and noticed the scooters, but never thought seriously until today. I got on the net and found this page among many others and have started thinking semi-seriously about addi g a scooter to the mix of motorized stuff I have. It seems like it is all about leisure and having fun. I like roaming through neighborhoods with my girlfriend looking at houses etc. I think doing it on a scooter would be extremely pleasant. Anyway, I love the club member photos and descriptions. I think it takes a certain sensibility to be man enough to get "into" scooters like you have. I imagine it makes for an interesting crowd. I stopped by Apollo today after spending lots of time on the web re ding about vespas/piaggios/lambrettas etc. It would be fun to pick up an old one that needs a little elbow grease. I satisfy the speed demon in me riding the jet ski. I'm not fond of hitting the concrete at high speeds and therefore am not looking for nything super duper. But I have a new found appreciation for the sense of syle that you and other fans of the european scooters seem to have in common. Apollo was closed since today is monday, but I'll probably stop by and chat about scooters tommorrow. If anyone has info on a cheap scooter to get me from point A to B with a little bit of style I'd appreciate it. I suppose I'm not the kind of customer the "apollo" establishment drools over, but maybe someone reading this has an old one in their garage r something. Other pointers are welcome. Cheers, Dave

I got your address off a scooter club listing, and you were the first in Texas. I have a 1963 Vespa 125 that I have had since 1965. It's in storage now, is complete but not running. Oh yeah, no way am I gonna sell it; I'm just waiting for the right time to start restoration. I live in Fort Worth in an old house near the zoo, and we don't have a garage- that's my next project. I've been racing vintage motocross with the T.V.R.C. until the last year, and have a collection of OLD Maico, Honda, and a couple of street bikes, and have done some complete engine rebuilds. The Vespa probably needs crank seals, so I'm looking at a complete tear down when this starts, and replacing anything that needs it on the way. Also I would like to restore the body, which is not in bad shape, but there are some dents and I have no experience at this work. I am also a lousy painter, so there is some work to be farmed out. Anyway, I'm pretty new to the Net and just typed in "Vespa" and was glad to see so much stuff come up. I know that you would be familiar with the best parts suppliers, etc. and it is always fun to talk with like-demented people. If you could send me any DFW (or mail order) resources you know of, I would appreciate it. Maybe I could become more inspired to get this project under way. Thanks a lot. Jeff Gibbons

Okay boys listen up. I have been asked by your leader to come up with some club rules. So sit back and pay attention. These rules are for all current members or new members. If you cannot abide by these rules then do not join our club. 1. There will be a spelling test for all new members. This includes you people in Pearland. I know you just learned to read on trees but you will have to do a better job if you are going to be allowed in the club. 2. All members must have a Vespa (pedals are optional) We do not allow Lambretta riders in the club. We hear they are pretty boys. Isnt that right Scott? Note: If you ride a Honda Spree you can still join our club. However, you must ride in the back on ride day. Do not fret there is no shame in coming in the rear is there boys? 3. All of the members must listen to Ska or is it Reggae? What the hell they both sound the same right? Praise Jah!! 10% of a members wardrobe must consist of black and white checked items (ie: bandana, patches, and shirts). Extra style points given to members who have black and white checkered slip on shoes. Shoes need to have good non slip soles for running in place at the shows. 4. ALl members must wear glasses (corrective or just for style). It is preferable that the glasses be black, thick rimmed, and have white tape over the nose piece. Glasses must be worn at all sanctioned events. 5. ALL members must purchase a "taxi cab driver hat" Some other groups called them "crombies" (88 ha ha ha) 6. ALl members must learn how to play dominos so that they can be beat by their DADDY. Thats right boys just keep calling me daddy. This is the first installment of the rules provided by your favorite redneck. Remember boys yall save your confederate money case the south is gonna rise again. Cheers to the red stripe scooter club. I saw the most kick ass vespa saturday night (7/11/98) It was pink and white... it was smooth. I loved it... It was in Austin... on 6th Str. Just wanted to stop by in again.... Check ya's later....
