Here are some pictures of Marcis' career
This is Dave's very first race car that he ran in the 1960's. In Daytona, 2002, he was thrown a retirement party. A bunch of Dave's friends fully restored this 1957 Chevy.
Here is Dave's first memorable car. His own #30 Dodge Daytona.
The next car is the #71 K&K Insurance Dodge that he took over from Bobby Isaac in the mid-70's.
Here's Dave with his #75 in 1984 for RahMoc racing.
1985 was the first year that he owned his own car using the #71. Here he is at Daytona with AEL sponsorship.
In the 80's through early 90's, Dave had sponsorship from Lifebuoy soap and also from Big Apple Markets. this picture is from Daytona 1992 where times were starting to get tough. Notice the car in unsponsored.
During those tough times, he got one-race sponsors. In this picture, it shows he had sponsorship from his best friends, Dale Earnhardt. Earnhardt put his Chevrolet dealership on his #71.
At the inaugural Brickyard 400 in 1994, Dave got a major sponsorship from the Terramite Corporation.
In 1995, he had the Olive Garden on his Chevrolets for a full season.
After Olive Garden left, Dave got full sponsorship in 1996 from Prodigy Comuputers.
In 1999, Dave got help from Richard Childress and Dale Earnhardt. Realtree camoflague was a co-sponsor on the #3, and they convinced the company to fully sponsor the #71.
This is how we remember the #71 now. This was the paint scheme for the limited schedule in 2000-2001.
Finally, this is the car that will be run in the 2002 Daytona 500, Dave's final race.
Dave even liked to have fun. Along with his memorable black wingtips, here are a few shots of his fun side.
Here Dave is in practice at Daytona before Speedweeks. Being from Wausau, Wisconsin, he likes the Green Bay Packers.
Here is a long-time friendship that I touched upon. Dave Marcis and Dale Earnhardt joking around. They will always be best buddies!
