-- folks,
Cleared u a misunderstanding on my part about the number of orders
to get the project rolling with KandR. The number of orders of whatever
is decided on have to total to a set break even point for the factory.
Total orders for the 1/43 model have to equal UKP3500; for the 1/24 they
have to total they have be at least UKP8000. The prices reflect no engine,
airdam, rollbar, or removable hardtop. In 1/43 that is 54 finished models,
or 140 unfinished kits; at UKP 65 finished, and UKP25 for kits. For the
1/24 model that is 40 finished models @UKP200 or 90 unfinished kits @ UKP90.
On the upside, the orders can be mixed on a sliding scale - that is the
more finished models ordered, the lower the number of orders required.
For example, if we order 30 finished, then we only need 22 kits or a total
of 52 orders. Basically what the factory is doing is producing a kit for
90 pounds and building it for you with your choice of LHD/RHD and rubbe/steel
bumpers, and painting it it in your choice of interior exterior color,
for an additional 110 pounds. These are metal models, and not nearly as
easy to finish as the plastic kits I usually build. In the long run the
factory finished models would probably have a higher collector value. Main
thing is that if every one opts for the less expensive kits, the order
numbers would have to be the higher figure, and possibly beyond our ability
fill the quota. At the moment I am 4 short of being able to do the 1/43
finished model at UKP65 . Already passed the limit for the finished 1/24th
kit, but that was before the 200 pound price was announced. But we haven't
started to poll the non net club members, so we should be able complete
that with no problem. I need to get a confirmation from everyone about
their orders This time the question is less involved. Please reply in the
following format: 1/24 finished @ L200 1/24 kit @ L90 1/43 finished @ L65
1/43 kit @ L25 Please rank the choices as Prefered, acceptable, or not
acceptable. In my case, 1/24 kit prefered 1/43 kit acceptable, 1/43 finished
acceptable , and 1/24 finished not acceptable. But is only because I don't
have the money for the latter. If I did have the money I'd buy one in a
heartbeat .. I have to have the figures to see what everyone wants, and
to be sure that we have enough combined orders for the quota. Prefered
and acceptable count as a vote for, unacceptable is a vote against, meaning
that I assume you will cancel your order if the unacceptable version is
all that is offered. Thanks for the interest and support. And the comparison
shopping hasn't even begun yet. Will keep you posted.
