Street Races -- Always on the
Prowl
I'm always out cruising
around looking for a good race - especially on the weekends. Below, I will
post details about the "worthy" vehicles I've raced - and the outcome,
their mods (if I can remember), etc. So check back every once in awhile
to see if I've beat (or been beat by?) anything else! Now for the fun stuff.
-
1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 (Twin Turbo)
-- Went at it from 40mph on Route 105. He stayed
with me until we hit 80mph, but after that - it was bye bye Mister VR-4.
By 110mph, he was a good 5-6 lengths behind me, and I let off. He
was stock except for a K&N filter. 6 speed too -- 330hp.

1996 Mustang GT (highly modified) --
From a dead stop on William Street, left him 4-5
cars behind by 80mph. Commented on how he couldn't hear *anything* over
my Borla exhaust! From a 40mph roll on Route 105 (love this highway!),
he stayed right at my back bumper all the way to 115mph when I let up.
His MODS included - 8# Vortech S-Trim supercharger,
1 5/8" headers, 2 1/2" dual exhaust, high flow catalytic converters, 3.73
gears, lowering kit, 17" wheels, roller rockers, MSD ignition w/ boost
timing retard - digital boost & fuel pressure gauges - and other misc.
stuff - 5 speed. (Headwork & cam on the way) Claimed
~350hp @ rear wheels.

1996 SLP Camaro SS
-- Raced from 60mph on I-51 south. I just
walked away from him - no contest. By the time I was at 120mph & let
off, he was many car lenghts back. At least 15, I would estimate.
He had the SLP exhaust, automatic w/ 3.23
rear gears, 17" SS rims, etc. (Will be sent to Lingenfelter soon) Bone
stock - 325hp.

-
1997 Firebird WS6
-- Ran him from a stoplight on I-51 north.
He got a car length jump on me from the light, but by the time I was at
60mph - I reeled him in plus gained another 3-4 car lenghts. Should have
seen the look on his face! I'll assume
he was stock since we didn't pull over and talk after the race. 305hp
(stock?).

1976 455ci TransAm
-- Went from a stoplight on Route 36. He got
a car-length jump, but I gained it back plus about 1/3 of a car-length
ahead by 80mph. Also, raced from a 40mph roll - once again he got a car-length
jump. I gained so that my front fender was even with his rear fender. After
that it was a dead heat all the way to 90mph. He
had a 455ci big block (shaker hood) with over $6,000 in it. Cam, big carb,
headers, exhaust, etc. 400-450hp & 500ft-lbs.
Well, that's all
of the "good" races I've had. I've yet to lose to anything on the streets
here. I only list races that I feel were against decent competition - or
a really nice car. If you're wondering what my car is packing, check out
the Mods page
I have online. With Drag Radials (poor traction with GSC's) and 60-70º
temps I should be able to hit mid 12s. Not too shabby, eh?
