TJ's 1998 Texaco Havoline 200 Photo Gallery, Road America

	Patrick Carpentier looked good in Sunday morning warm-up, but got caught up in a first lap accident.		Alex Zanardi hustles his Reynard-Honda through turn 6.
	Dario "Chiggers" Franchitti celebrates his first CART victory on the cool-down lap.		A Player's car exits Canada Corner and heads up Thunder Valley.
	Gil Deferran was in line for a podium finish when, with a few laps remaining, lost the motor..		The weekend's surprise silly-season announcement saw Scott Pruett move to Arceiro-Wells car for the 1999 & 2000 seasons.
	A Newman-Haas sandwich with a slice of Gugelmin.		I moved up Thunder Valley and took some nice slow shutter speed "artistic" shots.
	Sunday morning warm-up in Canada Corner is one of my favorite vantage points of the race weekend.		I really like the composition of this photograph.
	On the first lap, turn 5 can be a very congested place.		In Friday morning practice, Greg Moore backed into the tires at turn 8.
	The weather for all 3 days was postcard perfect.		Believe it or not I actually tried to take this picture. Therefore it's not a bad photograph, it's art!
	The long straights and fast corners at Road America are a disadvantage for the underpowered Toyota entrants. Still, Cool Robby brought it home in 12th.		The cars exit turn 6 and start the long descent through turn 7 and "Hurry Downs"
	Kenny, is that an ice-cream cone in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?		Arnd "Chocolate" Meier drove a fine race and finished a career best 10th in the field's lone Lola.
	Al Unser Jr. & Team Penske continued to improve. Unfortunately Al was punted by AZ on the first lap and will have to wait to get Team Penske's 100th win.		"Danger, Danger Will Robinson aliens approaching!"
	Mad Max jumps on the brakes at the bottom of "Hurry Downs".		Aren't those "Larry the Lizard" commercials great schtick?
	Don't you think one of the few people who actually looks good with a "van-dyke" is Michael Andretti?		PJ Jones stayed with the Reynard, while teammate Alex Barron shook down the new Eagle.
	Alex Z had to eat a little crow in his post race interview after drilling Al Jr. on the opening lap.		Rumor has it that in order to compete with Budweiser, Tecate will introduce "Paco the Chinchilla" next season.
	Gaulter Salles got the nod from Dale Coyne over Dennis Vitolo this race weekend.		I believe it has been reported that Tony B's team will lose long time sponsor "Alumax" at the end of the season.
	Big Mo's wild zig-zag paint scheme makes him a favorite subject for photographers.		Now, if I can only get one of those photo passes so I can get a little closer for these semi-head on shots.
	Adrian Fernandez has seen his stock and fortunes rise by constantly out performing his teammate.		Sing along: " Here's my fave driver Jimmy V, fastest driver you'll ever see!"
	It must really suck working all weekend, preparing for the race and getting knocked out on the first lap.		Just what does "MCI" stand for anyway? Something Communications Industry?
	Dario climbs the hill to turn 6. He was among the quickest in all of the practice and qualifying sessions.		It just seemed like I could not take a bad picture of Deferran this weekend.
	I still have this "Twilight Zone" feeling when I see Hiro's old car looking fast. GO ROBBY GO!		Who would have thought that Gaulter's no-talent Indy Lights teammate "Dr. Jack Miller", would have more of a racing career?
	The driver has the appearance of sitting very low in the new Penske chassis.		Its much easier to tell in the actual photo, But Jimmy V had on wets during morning warm-up... Think the team learned anything?
	Here's a rare obtuse angle shot that I actually like.		Its a little sad to think that this was the last race in which I saw Bobby Rahal compete.
	The new Gurney Eagle chassis with its patriotic paint scheme was one of my favorite weekend subjects.		Christian Fittipaldi earned his first podium finish of the season when his teammate parked it in the tire-wall at Turn 5 on the last lap.
