I have a 1983 RX that I have owned since 1988. It has been in storage for the last 7 years and I am now just putting it back on the road. Other than some very minor issues, it started immediately. I am now in the process of re-painting it and doing some s all body work. There is a small dent in the front panel where it someone ran into it. I am struggling with a colour. I am considering metallic red with black below the side trim. I'll keep you informed. If possible I will send pictures.

Hi! Enjoyed your webpage but had difficulty accessing Q&A.(Problem at my end). Just want a quick opinion. I have two children and 3 cars. I am considering selling my 1985 RX7 but note very low resale values. Is there any chance that it will increase in alue if I were to store it. It is in great condition, garage kept, w/96,000 original miles. Only minor repairs up to this point but worry that any future repairs /maintenance would cost more than the resale value. Currently,there is only 1 qualified me hanic left in my area to work on the rotary engine. Interested to hear that the rotary may be reintroduced by Mazda. Will this improve resale value? This site is great. It must be alot of work. My other favorite sites are by Felix Miata, Paul Yaw, and one called The Performance Professor. Just when I was gearing up to do some performance upgrades on my baby, she showed me I never really was driving her so much as she was LETTING me drive her! I lost her on a curve. Just some body damage, but I cried! I have even more respect for her now... But don't think for a second I won't do those mods!!! The ONLY thing that feels better than driving my RX with the windows down and Zeppelin blairing is sex- and that's only a LITTLE better. I guess I'll be in my glory if I can get my girlfriend to b ow me while driving!!!( but I'll have to be REAL careful not to jerk the clutch!)

Ive got a 1973 series 2 rx2, its got a 12a secondary j-port turbo on it, running a straight 3 inch exhaust with supertrapp to quieten the noise, it is a road car en all , this site fuckin rocks keep it commin, i really like the garage really helpfull, rea ing the problems of others really helped me sort out a few probs of my own cheers guys

This message is for CHRIS, that wrote in to your guest book on 3/03/00 about his rotary motor getting flooded with fuel inside the rotor chambers, CHRIS the first thing you need to do is check the compression , with a regular compression gauge on each sid of the rotor housing's, if you get no compression reading from one side of the rotor housing , dont go to crazy you have broken APEX seals on that one rotor housing and need to overhaul the the beast!!!! whether it's a 12-A OR my favorite 13-B... good l ck. and if i could assit you any more , ill be checking this cool as website now and then .. thank you . my very first car was a 1983 1 generation rx-7 and it gave me no troubles whatsoever untill a friend of mine decided to rip the door off of it with a mail box stand... don't ask how or why.. since then ihave owned 3 trucks and now i am back onto another r -7 it is a 1987 and it is striaght up PIMP!! i have a kenwood cd player a 740 watt amp and 2 jl audio 12" w-6 speakers in the back, and i'm going to replace the midrange speakers shortly.. but anywho.. my rx-7 can stomp any stock 4cyl on the market.. new r old except for the supercharged or turbo's .. and it can hang w/ most of the v6's if there automatic...even the world acclaimed gm.. 3800 series 2 v6 in the bonevelle and the firebird's but i can't quite beat them.

My self and a buddy bought this clean 1981 RX-7 with the wides flare kit I have seen yet, we are preparing the car to do time trials with at LimeRock racetrack in Coonecticut. Engine has been balanced and has dual webers on it, sporting 9.5 rims on the ba l and 8's up front. He was running a 67 Corvette and I a 91 Mustang GT at this track but decided we didn't want to chance bending them so now we are learning all over on the Mazda. Looking to be able to check in for advice from time to time or at least li ks.

However, one of the water seals is broken and the engine needs a re-build $2,800. It is being re-built by Nick Van ugteren in Santa Ana, CA. I am told he is one of the best in the world. My dad has a 1979 RX-7 with 1985 GSL-SE powertrain. The engine is 13B 4 port. My dads car is super fast. When He Races it he wins all the time. When I get in it its cool its super fast. But dad says viedo games are safer. I play Gran Turismo and own all o the avalaible RX-7's. I Win a lot with the RX-7 A-Spec. Bye thank you for your time and I like your web site very much. P.S. Can one day I can drive one of your RX-7's because my dad wont let me because I'm just 12 but I'm a better driver than him at racing video games.

Although never posting any questions, many of those that are asked are relevant. i enjoy reading what every-one else is up to with their "donks".I just wish that many of the parts and shops that exist in U.S. were over here. We don't have the likes of Prima-Flow exhaust stuff here so it's very expensive to obtain high quality parts with-out the high quality prices. I was quoted AUS $800+ the other day for a mid quality exhaust from the header back....extremely rude prices. Plus o walk in specialty Mazda shops.

Not sure of model type, just bought the car in June '98. Car was is great shape, leather interior, AC, PW, Cruirse, Automatic/Overdrive, new paint job, forest green, 165 000 KM, but after drivng if for a while, I would stop and shut it off. I had proble s getting it started again. I notice that it was lossing preston, then the motor went in it. I put a brand new 12A in it and it seems to work great now.

just recntly upgraded my engine to a series 4 13turbo 3inch straight thru exhaust series 5 gearbox 4/11 diff ratio,also took out the secondary butterfly from the fuel injection which produces more fuel flow but also awsome flames, i can get flame from jus a simple backfire upto 5 seconds long. had it dyno tuned and it is producing 320horsepower thats some serious power.k and n air filter boost adjust switch can be set from 5 pounds boost to 15 pounds with a few seconds almost like nitro. estimated 13 seco d quarter mile but im sure i can make it in the 12"s. seeya round like a rotar.

Just a question, I aquired a 79 RX-7 from my wifes grandfather. He is the original owner and the car has only 33K original miles on it. It has Air, and moon roof. Show room condition. Just wondering if it is a keeper and how much it is worth. He plac d an order for this car throughout the east cost when he heared about the RX-7s. I think that it is one of the first in the country. My 1981 Rx 7 has been transplanted with a 13b Turbo from a 1989/90 Gen 2 (Series 5 In Australia)and matching gear box. Engine has modified intake (K&N Filter) and 2.5inch Exhaust running increased boost (about 10lbs) and a small (read - not ugly) bonnet s oop. Suspension = Koni Adjustables, King springs super low, stiffer(much)front sway bar. I took the rear sway bar off to get rid of some of the over-steer. I'd be interested to find out whether your July 98 mod of adding a sway bar helped or hindered. I'v talked to 2 others who have taken theirs off to. Appart from this the car basically standard and really suprises a few people at the lights as I disappear of into the distance ( especially the odd Motorbike) Enough already, Great site ,Thanks Mark

Have enjoyed your site and will bookmark for future reference. I enjoy reading about people with 100-200,000 miles on their car. When I sold my 83 GS, I had owned it for 11 years, had it stolen once (I recovered it with a stripped interior and put it ba k together), and had 274,000 miles on it. It's third engine was about to go in and it had already gone through 3 clutches and transmissions. I miss that car and will someday (when the kids are older, get another 83 and rebuild it.

My brother-inlaw and I both have 1gen RX7s. Mine is a Yellow 79 and his is a Blue 85GS. We both like traveling together and are looking to get hooked up with other RX7 owners that like just traveling around together and enjoying others company. It is gr at when we pull up to a golf course and park together and watch people look at our great cars. Both of them our stock with no extras but that is how we like it. If you know of anybody in the Los Angeles area, hook me up to their E-mail.

Comments: Nice site and nice ideas, but boy some of the cars in your showroom would look so much better without the window grill things or whatever you call them on the back. I don't really know what's available in terms of serious horsepower upgrades for you yank , but my idea of serious power upgrades for rx-7s involves fully working a series 4/5 13b turbo, with and extend port and high flowed to4 turbo. then you'd be doing tens, and THAT is tough. email and tell me what sort of mods are available to you. Are 0b engines readily available in the US of A?
