Steve Park's Car Failure Crushes Rookie Award Opportunity
A March 6 accident involving the Earnhardt owned #1 Pennzoil Monte Carlo and 2 walls claim Steve Parks hope for the 1998 Rookie Award. A misfortunate car failure puts Park in the wall 4 times and breaks femur, the bigger bone in the leg. It was really unfortunate because Steve had a high qualifying car as he and the other rookie contenters were coming upon the point where Irwin could no longer advantageously use Irvan's 97 points to qualify for all the races with provisionals. Although Irwin was ahead, Park was still within striking distance.
Yes, Yes Yes!!
These were the three sweet words Dale Earnhardt screamed as he got out of his Daytona 500 Winning Goodwrench Plus Monte Carlo. Earnhardt finally got the win his fans have been waiting for in the 40th running of the Daytona 500 and what a great place to win that race everyone was waiting for. Dale has whipped this track in every way imaginable but has been unable to grab the Great American Race victory. Until Now!! All those days of waiting are over for him, his team and his fans. It was a very thrilling victory coming off a winless '97 Winston Cup season. Congratulations to the best driver in Nascar driving history, Dale Earnhardt!!
