This is Dan Hunters 99 VW Jetta. Dan is currently working on his car and I will udate as the work progresses. Dan has recently aquired sponsorship from Tsunami. They will be supplying sound deadening, power and ground wire, speaker wire, rca's, dristribution blocks, fusing and terminal ends. Thanks Tsumani!!
The head unit is a Clarion DRX9255 that has dual 20 bit Burr Brown D/A converters with 4 volt outputs.
The changer is an older Clarion 6 disc CD605 that has digital capabilities.
The front stage will be handled by JL Audio's 3-way component set XR653-CS which includes a 6 1/2, 4, tweeter and passive crossovers. The sub duties will be handled by 6 Precision Power PPI 8's that are 8 ohms.
LEFT: This is the inside of the sub box with the braces in place. The box is made out of 3/4" MDF.
CENTER: Here you can see Dan spraying the inside of the box with Cascade spray on sound deadening.
RIGHT: Here you can see how Dan used wood rings to angle the subs toward each other.
LEFT: After the wood rings were set in place the box was covered with material and shaped using the cans to get the desired shape. Then 3 or 4 thin coats of fibreglass resin was applied to the material.
CENTER: Here is the box with the fibreglass applied to it. Dan then applied bondo and lightly sanded the box.
RIGHT: Here's the box with the white paint applied to it. The paint matches the car. The subs baskets will also be painted white because they will be facing out. Maybe. Hehe.
