Before he was The Intimidator, Dale Earnhardt was known as One Tough Customer. Here is Dale's #15 Bud Moore Ford from 1983. Some of the johnny-come-lately Earnhardt fans can't believe he actually drove a Ford.

Few people realize Sterling Marlin drove for Coors before he even GOT to Winston Cup full-time. Here he is in a Grand American race at Nashville Speedway in 1983.

One of the classiest individuals in the sport - Joe Gibbs. I firmly believe much of NASCAR's credibility gained during the 90s was the direct result of Gibbs' getting involved in the sport. He's also got a great reputation for selecting drivers - Dale Jarrett, Bobby Labonte, and Tony Stewart.

Alan Kulwicki in the garage before the 1992 spring race at Atlanta. Alan went on to win the championship that year. Unfortunately, he was killed in a plane crash in April 1993 while on his way from Knoxville to Bristol, Tennessee.
