Terry Labonte is arguably the most consistant driver in NASCAR right now. Labonte finished
1997 with 20 top-10s and a win at Talladega. He started this season with a second place
finish at Daytona then finished in the top-10 14 times in the first 17 races. Labonte
started a slump at the second Pocono race of the season. In 9 races, he finished 35th or
worse 4 times, dropping him out of contention to repeat his Winston Cup Championship.
Labonte started 1998 with a 13th place finish at the Daytona 500. He finished 2nd at
the Food City 500, and recently won the Pontiac Excitement 400, which lived up to its
name.
Labonte came into NASCAR Winston Cup racing in 1978. His stats after the completion of the 1999 season are 641 races, 21 wins, 172 top-5s, 331 top-10s, and $20,672,008 in career earnings.
