... I believe I have come a long way since "91. Heck it took 20 minutes for me to figure out how to get the fuel cap off my first sprint car. Now I put together the cars, build the engines (with the help of the Jones family), and do all the maintenance myself. It makes it more fun and interesting to me than if I was just the driver."
Scott Campbell
Scott has been professionally racing since 1981 with the street stocks, but really if you count bicycles and homemade push carts Scott has been racing all his life. In fact his three older brothers used Scott for a test pilot (lab rat)on more than one highly experimental contraption. The test generally ended up with the words "you will be all right" and "don't tell Mom."
" I really feel like my racing program is starting to come around" says Scott " I have work hard for a lot of years with not much success to show for it, but now we are starting to run very well with the stuff we have. Someone will always be able to out spend you in this game, but if I do well with what I have it makes me feel good about the whole deal."
Scott really enjoys racing, but he says the thrill of speed is just a small part of it. The people and places he has come into contact with racing are what he feels is the best part about racing.
"It's the friendships that you make along the way that makes racing what it is for me. Sure it's a great feeling to go out and win a heat race, but that feeling soon goes away. The fact that I have made so many such good friends in racing gives me a good feeling all the time. I would also like to say thanks to all the people that have helped me out over the years"
