February 1999
February Monthly Meeting
The February meeting was held on Tuesday February 9th at
6:30pm at our usual meeting place, the Sagebrush Inn in Kernersville. This time sixteen enthusiasts attented: Norm Wiggins, Tim and Susan Simmons, Blake Frazier, Jack O'Brien, Jeff Berg, April Woods, Steve Karapetian, Tom Jones, Adam Beruch, Jim Clarkson and three of the Mirchandanis, Thor, Viktor and Patrick. Bill and Wendy Djang joined us all the way from Raleigh. They are active in the South East chapter of the Ferrari Club of America, and own that trophy of trophies, a Ferrari F-40. We thank them for visiting us, and hope to be able to co-host events with their club in the future.
The parking lot was full of interesting cars, once again with a Ferrari dominance. Jim brought his 328 GTP, Steve arrived in a 308 GT4 and the Mirchandanis managed to squeeze into their 365 GT. Tim and Susan Simmons drove their Alfa Romeo Spyder. Jeff and April brought a white Porsche 911 and then there was Jack in the white, fire-breathing MGA. For once, Hauser didn't show up in the big Healey.
There was an overview of the upcoming events, and then Steve screened a Ferrari F1 video.
Our European Car Festival will be held October 9th and the Ferrari Club
will be holding its Concours at the show. For more information on this event
call Steve Karapetian at 336 766 1785.
Blake Frazier will be heading up our group’s attendance at the May Hill
Climb at Beech Mountain. This event is the successor to the Chimney Rock Hill
Climb. For anyone interested Blake has arranged free overnight accomodations
and the cost for food is $25 per person . This will be an excellent mid
Spring Event. Calll Blake at 336 854 0391.
Adam is still waiting for his new baby, a red Ferrari 512 BBi, to arrive from the West coast. Everybody is very excited!

Where the rubber meets the road in the Piedmont
Eevery car enthusiast has a favorite road. It can be as simple as a sweeping on-ramp for Fangio the Commuter. Maybe it is a tricky Appalachian mountain stretch, a challenge for both car and driver. Or just an empty country road, best visited with Webers snarling and Konis pumping early one morning when the sheriff's still sleeping.....
Wouldn't it be great if we could compile a knowledge base of
great roads for spirited driving in the Piedmont Triad?
Why don't you tell Corsa Rossa about your favorite stretch of Triad-asphalt? (Or maybe it's gravel?) Send us a message with a brief description of "your" road, and what it is that makes it so special to you. Time permitting, we'll pay it a visit in a fast car and write up a review for the web page!
