Ciao, John Hauser
Every month CorsaRossa receives dozens of emails from people who have questions about their Italian cars. The questions are things like parts inquiries, questions about local mechanics, directions to events, and even tips on hot roads and spirited driving in the area. Thor Mirchandani and John Hauser usually end up passing the questions to somebody knowledgable in any given field, but in order to serve Italian car enthusiasts better, we now have a contact list by marque, so a bewildered sports car enthusiast can direct a question straight to the person who has the answer. Check it out and keep those questions coming!
The Mid Atlantic Alfa Romeo Club arranged a Wine Tasting and Tour at West Bend Winery Sunday June 11th. The MAARC people from the Triangle arrived around 1:30 PM, having enjoyed a brunch at Ron and Terrie Weddle's place in Durham. At the winery they were greeted by droves of Corsa Rossa folks, including Adam Berusch in a twin-turbo modified Ferrari 512 BBLM, Steve Karapetian and Thor Mirchandani in a Ferrari 308GT4, Jim Clarkson in a Ferrari Testarossa, and Steve Jones in a Ferrari 328, Kevin Harper and his wife in an Alfa Romeo GTV6, Ann and Kim Peoples in a Mercedes 280 SL, Piers Clarkson in a Porsche 928 Bob King in a Porsche and Jeff and April Berg in a Lexus. The wine was great and the afternoon quite relaxing.
After the wine tasting the group headed over to Tanglewood for the tail end of British Car Days south where they were eagerly greeted by Jack O’Brien and John Hauser who had been busy working on their sun strokes amid the MGs and Jaguars.
The Corsa Rossa boys reported in from Montreal. Evidently their support made all the difference with a One/Two Ferrari finish and an Italian one the podium in third. Forza Italiano!
Michael Schumacher finished 1st followed by Rubens Barrichello in 2nd and Giancarlo Fisichella in third 3rd. The fastest McLaren was Mikka Hakkinen in 4th, whereas pole-sitter David Coulthard finished 7th having incurred a 10 second stop-and-go penalty for a safety violation on the starting grid.
