Charlotte businessman Rick Hendrick went NASCAR Winston Cup racing with one team in 1984, and he's been moving fast in the
sport ever since. Hendrick Motorsports has established itself as one of the most dominant and respected teams on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Three consecutive series titles and the most impressive multi-car lineup in the business have lifted the outfit to the pinnacle of the sport since its debut in 1984. Since its beginning, Hendrick Motorsports' teams have won 71 NASCAR Winston Cup Series races, including 11 victories in 1997 and 12 in 1996. Two of the drivers, Terry Labonte and Jeff Gordon, have captured the last three NASCAR Winston Cup Series championships. In 1997, the team added Ricky Craven, the series' 1995 Rookie of the Year, to the fold to drive the No. 25 Budweiser car -- which will be the No. 50 for 1998, in celebration of NASCAR's 50th anniversary. |
