Racereport 12/6 2000 A Win at last! Crew: MrBeam, Biggles, Desmo & Reodor. Fixes: New wing, Strut Brace, Adjustable rebound on front shocks and some few kg-s lighter. DESMO started and we sort of held positions through the first hour. Team SBK's Audi and NoBudget's Golf and we were about matched. The new tyres, though gave us an unexpected problem, the spoiler was dragging and ground itself to pieces against the asphalt. We got a technical flag (volunterely, no radio) and took him in to have a glance, sent him out to plan, and decided what to do. We took him in and put some rivets in the front lip, where it had separated, and sent him out again. We get positionlists every hour, but depending on tank- and driver schedule we were not sure of where we were. BIGGLES went out and kept the pace and Reodor checked around for a piece of scrap alu to reinforce the lip. He found it and gave his ideas to the others of how to make the fix, and we decided to take Biggles in to leave the spoiler and di some laps without, and that Reodor should come in later to pick it up. Reodor went out to the driverchange pit (separaterd from both the fuel pit and the machine pit) to direct him in. He came in and while given the "To the machinpit gesture" he passed that and went for the fuel pit. He pointet to the fuel cap, but Reodor in race suit wasn't allowed to fill up, so he sent him out on an extra lap. The next lap he was coming coasting down to the pits with no engine. Or, rather, no fuel. She was so much faster now so our 2 hour fuel scheme doesn't work. We pushed him in and took of the spoiler while REODOR took over for the third hour. After the second hour we were leading, NoBudget had had problems and SBK had broken their main brakecylinder and went to town to get a new one. Reodor was slow. Maybe he had put to much effort in the car and gone afraid to brake it, or he was scared to go without the spoiler. We lost a lap while stopping in the machine pit to remount the spoiler. We were second behind VT Racing, a Volvo 360 that was slowest among us, but chugged along without problem. MR BEAM took the fourth hour, traditionally beeing the slowest of us, but now suddently the fastest. He took a lap on VT an we were just 3 laps behind. BIGGLES went out for the fifth hour and took another lap on the fleeing Volvo. 2 more to go. DESMO went out for the last hour, and the sign for leading was a thumbs up from the stop&go pits (Lots of pits on the track) He took the first lap after 25 minutes and was gaining. Then suddenly, we heard the same noise from the Volvo as from Ole Betsy when SHE died at Mantorp Park 6 years earlier. The dang-dang-dang from one main bearing. We said "Bad Luck" to VT-racing and went to the pits to give Desmo a 6-hand thumbs up. We had it, at last! Out first win.
