Work I have done so far...

She broke down on me today on the way to work today.  I found I had a ruptured coolant line under the hood which caused a massive loss of coolant.  The car almost overheated but I pulled it over and shut it down in time.  Towed it home, repaired the hose, filled the radiator, and took it for a test drive.  It is holding up, but I'm taking it easy, not going too far from home for awhile.  I also have put in some rubber spring spacers for the front springs as a cheap fix for the sagging front end.  They level the car out nicely and have made the ride much better as well.

Power steering woes
I replaced the whining power steering pump with a unit I bought off of eBay.  Fortunately, the one I bought works fine and makes no noise :-).   164440 miles now.    I need at least one new rear caliper so I figure I might as well do both of them at the same time.  I'm working on finding some.

Well I replaced the left rear brake caliper with one I bought from www.partsamerica.com .  The old one was sticking and not releasing.  I changed the pads on both sides in the back.  I also installed a new leather shifter boot in place of the original one (pictures to come).  It's nice, but now it seems like it needs a shorter shifter to look right, so that might come one day.  I have new outer window door seals to install, as well as a new inner window channel for the passenger side.  I picked up a driver side seat on eBay that has no tears in it, to replace my torn one.  It has a little different cloth pattern to it, but it's not too bad.  This is all around 164500 miles.

Fixed vibration
I replaced both front calipers with ones I bought from www.partsamerica.com .  Turns out the passenger side was bad, causing a horrible vibration and also making the rim very hot.  It's all better and the car is running great for 164550 miles.  Thats about it for now.  I'm just happy I can take it out now whenever I want.

Oil Change & rust repair
Oil change at 164587 miles.  I tried a trick I read somewhere that said to punch a hole in the top of the oil filter before removing it so the oil doesnt drip all over the place.  It worked, not one drip of oil down the side of the engine.  I have some surface rust spots forming below the back window, so I sanded down that area to the bare metal and temporarily sprayed it with a color I found that closely matches the rest of the car.  Its a temporary fix until I'm ready to have a paint shop redo the whole car.

Happy New Year Theft
I managed to start the New Year with a terrible hang-over, as well as coming home to find my Rx-7 had been stolen.  I used my other car to go out the night before and stayed at a friends house, and when I came home on New Years day, it wasn't there.  It was recovered a few days later in the woods.  The entire engine compartment was stripped, as well as the transmission.  It had 4 flat tires, and body damage as well.  Inside was relatively intact except for the damage resulting from the speakers being stolen out of it.  Fortunately, it was covered on my insurance.  The car was finger printed by the police but as far as I know, no suspects were ever found.
