I have brewed many batches of root beer plagued by inexperience. I still have difficulty. I claim not to be an expert but, rather, I want to share my thoughts and experiences in hopes of benefiting others, brewing better beer, and to popularize root beer.

I consider myself a root beer connoisseur. This page is dedicated to root beer connoisseurs. One of my English teachers once said there's no such animal. The root beer I most like to brew is similar to the type made by early Americans without extracts. Since root beer from scratch is much more complicated than the tasty, sugary tonic may seem, you can be a root beer connoisseur.

This page is dedicated to everyone who has ever popped open a bottle of root beer, to every child who has ever enjoyed its distinctive taste with a friend, and to everyone who takes the time to humor my passion. Thank you.
