Sekerpare

Sekerpare is sweetened by sugar syrup. It is made for special occasions.

You need;

for sugar syrup;

First prepare sugar syrup. Put sugar, water and lemon juice in a pan, boil until thickens a little and set aside to cool.
Place melted butter, powder sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl, and knead them for 5 minutes. Add egg yolks and flour, and kneat another 5 minutes.
Give ball shape to dough, cover with a wet towel and rest 20 minutes.
Take a piece from dough as big as a walnut, make a ball, squeze from top a little and place on a baking pan. Put an almond at top of it. Continue doing it until dough finishes.
Bake sekerpares at 350F about 30 minutes. Move pan to top rack and bake another 10 minutes.
When they are cooled down, spoon by spoon pour sugar syrup over sekerpares until sekerpares no longer absorbe it.
Refrigerate and serve cold.
