Mayport, Florida...
Was my last assignment in the Navy (thank God, I thought the day
would never come!). I actually lived in nearby Jacksonville Beach, practically
ON the beach. It was a great place to spend my final days as a
'squidley' and I left the Navy a happy camper. I spent a couple
weeks there not too long ago, it was the first time I had been back
since 1986. Most of my old haunts where I had 'crashed
and burned' on more than one occasion have either closed down or been
replaced. Fortunately 'The Crab Pot' was still alive and kickin'
and I was able to relive a few memories, minus the sailor suit.
