2001 - Bright clear red, warm mouthfill, slight alcohol burn. Pleasant easy drinking wine. Good (PFM 5/2002)
2000 - Estery nose, old style estery tannic Pinotage, has its fans, but not me. (PFM 5/2002)

1998One taster described it as "chocolate-covered cherries with too much tannin" for her tastes another described it a bitter and sour and not a wine to drink for pleasure I described it as initially barnyard aroma (like classic Pinot Noir), then softening after about 1/2 hour. Smokey taste initially with cherry fruit, and chocolate aftertaste.

This bottle was tasted soon after opening. Like Pinot Noir, I imagine this wine would be even better after sitting for a day or two. Overall impression of tastings after drinking it soon after opening: harsh, with some cherry and chocolate, but bitter tannins were equally prominent.

Indalo Swartland
Premium label from Swartland Winery. Name means "Natures Way"  label picture
2001Only 1000 cases made. Old blocks were selected and made into a fuller style, wood (stave) fermented. Very Pinotage nose, plums and esters. Light puckery tannins, but too much ester for me (2/2002 PFM)
