Te Awa New Zealand
Te Awa was planted from new South African Pinotage clones in 1992. This is the first 'full production' vintage after tiny releases in the last couple of years. The winemaker is Jenny Dobson
2000 Longlands - Dark bright cherry red, sweet clean nose, very easy and pleasing to drink, soft and velvety and redolent of plums and pepper. Spicy, bright tones.
1998 Paulas - More like a South African wine, as it is quite earthy and dusty and has heaps of potential. More 'classic' Pinotage. (tasted Oct 1999 by Sue Courtney www.wineoftheweek.com
Te Awa Farm 'Longlands' Pinotage 1998: From new clonal material planted in 1992. The third crop from these vines. Hand harvested, fermented in open top vats hand plunged. 15 months in oak. Dark blackish red. Powerful berried nose with ripeness, complex tobacco notes too. A solid, chunky wine with typical 1998 Hawkes Bay rich vintage character. Berries, smoky and savoury, the oak comes through adding some char. Excellent extract and grip that is perfectly conterpointed by the sweetness of the fruit and freshness of youth. Lovely finish. 18.5/20 (15/05/00 Raymond Chan at Regional Wines, NZ)
Thelema Stellenbosch
They've made Pinotage twice at Thelema -- from bought in grapes. First time the wine sold out in less than a month, so perhaps they may be tempted to make it more often.

Tukulu Groenekloof
It came from nowhere and with its first vintage produced a Top 10 Pinotage.
2001 - Rather tannic and a little sharp, some bright edges. (PFM 09/04)
2001 - Very dark opaque, full bodied, ripe berry fruits - plums and red currants, sweet. 14.5%
2000 - Very jammy, raspberry conserve like on the nose. I found the acid a little elevated for this very ripe style and less of it might have brought a more pleasing balance in the way the Rijk’s did. (Nick Alabaster 10/02)
1999 - Vegetal complex, rather than fruity nose. Hotness of alcohol masking flavour, pleasurably acidic. Not much body, needs time. Vanilla oak, some coconut and grapefruit. Bitter leathery aftertaste. (01/2002)
Tulbagh Co-operative Tulbagh
2001 - Good dark colour, sweet warm flavours of cherry and plum and subtle wood tannins. 14% alc (PFM 10/02)

This is a Distell brand designed for the export market and it has found favour in Canada especially, from where we've had several emails praising it.
