ABOUT
ME
Hi! My name is Mickey McBride, but I am affectionately known
as musicman to my
friends on the Internet. Unfortunately, that name was already in use here in
GeoCities so
I had to choose another. What better name to suit me than the one I
chose, Cool
Musicman. Of course, when Geocities merged with Yahoo, the name was changed again, this time to coolmusicman.geo but that's another story.
I am totally involved and devoted to music. I am a songwriter, and I have been writing songs since I was 13 years old. However, it wasn't until just a few years ago that I got
serious about songwriting. Before that, I was more of a performer than a songwriter, having only written a handful of songs. Since 1988, however, I have written or co-written
over 400 songs. Not all of them are great, but not all of them are bad either. And, besides that, I wouldn't brag about the bad ones, would I ? Ha ha!
I had 12 songs under contract with Woodrich Publishing. Most of them are Country songs but I did manage to sneak one Jazz tune in there and he absolutely loved it. When he offered me a contract on that song, Just Like We Did Before, even I was surprised because all the other songs he had signed, before and
after, were Country music. Of the 12 songs signed, 3 of them, Why Can't He Stay,
Someday I'll Find A New Man and If You're Looking Down From Heaven which is a song I co-wrote with Julius Zenchoff, were playing on selected
radio stations, worldwide, but that was a couple of years ago.
Since then, all of the contractual obligations were not met ("reversion clause" for all you songwriters)and ownership reverted back to the writers.
UPDATE! I recently started my own music publishing company,
Staff
And Note Music Publishing and have placed several songs there. As I can get them put up on this site, you'll be able to check out the MIDI versions. If you would like to obtain recordings of my music, email me for specifics.
In addition to writing music, I am currently serving as
President of the USA. (No, I'm
not Bill Clinton. Not even George Dubya! I'm talking about the United Songwriters
Association.) The
association is a non-profit organization consisting of songwriters dedicated to
helping
each other learn whatever they need to know to become better songwriters. That
includes copyright preparation, song critique, learning lyric structure and
musical
structure, guidance in preparing your songs to send to a publisher, and
the
do's and the
don'ts of songwriting. If you are a songwriter, or think
you are a songwriter, or wanna
be a songwriter, or even think you wanna be a songwriter, and would

If all of the above weren't enough, I also produce demo
recordings. I have a full MIDI
studio and can musicate in any style from Bach to the Beach Boys,
from Raggae to
Rap, from Country to Cha Cha, or from Rhumba to Rock. If you need information
about
demo recordings, email me.
