It's a New Year?
2/10/99 Veto, OH: Another year is already in it's second month. How time flies. We had a good long break until the end of January when we played the Eagles Club in Beverly, OH. Everyone was glad to be back and the two nights went very well. I was able to record a new demo tape from that weekend.
We are looking forward to this weekend at the American Legion in Marietta, OH. It's their Valentine's dance. Of course, we'll be wearing red.
See yo'all later.

Long Time Since Last Update
6/20/99 Veto, OH: I's been awhile since I've had time to update this site. A lot has happened in the meantime!
Things went well at the Valentine's Day dance in Marietta and at our booking in March at the Beverly Eagles. The Golden Wings Jamboree was actually held a week earlier than we were booked for, so we missed it. Just as well...there was a big snow storm the day it was held and we probably would have had to cancel anyway for safety reasons. It was a disappointment for the people, but they told us at the Frontier CB Roundup in Marietta in April that they look forward to next year.
The Frontier CB Roundup went very well. Praise came from everyone all day long.
Carolyn and I took some time to visit the Buckeye Country Music Association in Canton in April. They hold a sing at the Senior Citizens Center each month. Carolyn sang with the house band and they welcome us to appear there at a later date.
On Thursday, May 20 Carolyn received a phone call from the VFW in Marietta. The band they had scheduled for that weekend had broken up...could our band appear on Saturday? Carolyn called some band members and they all had plans for the weekend. Meanwhile, the man at the VFW discovered that we had a karaoke machine and asked us to do karaoke Saturday night. It took some doing on our part to get books, song slips, etc. ready, but we did it. Our first karaoke show! Tho' it went well, we much prefer the live music!
The following Monday, Carolyn's father went into the hospital and has been there ever since. Carolyn has spent time with him everday until yesterday. They sent him to the Cleveland Clinic last weekend. Carolyn, her sister, and her mother spent last week in Cleveland. I went up Thursday evening, spent Friday at the hospital, and brought Carolyn back Friday evening so she could perform at the Dunham Fire Department yesterday.
Our performance at the Dunham Fire Department went very well. Carolyn was glad that she could perform for her local followers and benefit her local fire department as well. Everyone was wondering when her new album would be out. We couldn't tell them for sure. When her dad gets out of the hospital, she can think about the new album.
We do plan to do an album this summer. Many of the arrangements had already been made, but will have to be rescheduled. We hope to be able to release in August or maybe September. We'll keep you updated (I promise).
Our bookings are light this year as we were planning the new album and Carolyn hasn't pushed too much. However, she will be looking for bookings soon to promote the new album.

Changes...Changes...Changes!!
8/22/99 Veto, OH: A major change is in store for Carolyn Richards' Last Chance Band. Carolyn has decided to let the band (as it is now) dissolve. Our last performance will be this coming weekend at the American Legion in Marietta, Ohio. If a new band is formed, it will probably not be until spring of the year 2000.
Carolyn's father died June 26 after nearly five weeks in hospitals. It was actually a relief that he was no longer suffering.
Carolyn will be going into the studio this coming week to record the first of two new albums. It will feature her "Tribute to Patsy Cline" with a special bonus song "I Can't Tell Him Goodbye", a song she wrote. Release is tenatively expected to be the first week of November. The second album will be gospel (it may include a song I wrote!). She is very excited about both!
We just returned from vacation in Branson, Missouri. One of Carolyn's most requested songs is "The Teddy Bear Song" originally recorded by Barbara Fairchild and a #1 hit in 1973. So, one of the highlights of our trip was to meet and talk with Barbara. Carolyn had to have one of Barbara's limited edition teddy bears! We also agreed to help Barbara with her campaign to return prayer to our schools. We are circulating a petition and will send you one to sign and circulate if you get in touch with us.
