Dana Britten signed her first recording contract as a young teenager with the NY-based label, MIDSONG Records where she became part of the duo, Dana and Gene. Their first record, a dance single, was favorably reviewed in Billboard and Cashbox and became a nationwide dance club favorite.During the 1980's and into the early 1990's, Dana focused on developing her burgeoning songwriting talents and became a well-regarded and popular demo singer and songwriter in N.Y.C. and London. During this period, she co-wrote songs and sang demos for such pop luminaries as Kenny Laguna (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts), Ritchie Cordell ("I Think We're Alone Now", "Mony, Mony"), Doug Frank ("After You"), George Fischoff ("Lazy Day"), Marc Blatte and Larry Gottlieb ("Hands Across America", "Read My Lips") and Nicky Chinn ("Better Be Good To Me", "Kiss You All Over").
Her songs were published by many of the most successful music publishing companies in popular music, including Chappell Music, MCA Music, Peer-Southern Music, ATV Music and Dick James Music. Dana was a staff writer for Dick James Music (Elton John's publisher) for two years.
Over the last several years, Dana Britten and her husband/co-writer/producer have devoted their efforts towards eventually establishing themselves as songwriting mainstays in the Nashville country/pop community. During this period, while still living in NYC, Dana and Gary have had their songs published by Polygram International and Nashville's Harris-Richardson Music Group; while Dana has performed Britten and Stone's unique and elegantly crafted pop-country material at such venues as The Bitter End, Don't Tell Mama, 55 Grove Street and The Country Club. She has also been contracted for projects produced by 11 time Emmy Award winning Lancit Media Entertainment and by acclaimed motion picture producer Robert Goldston ("Runaway Train", "Mandela").
Since moving full-time to Nashville in February 1997, Dana has been busy recording a demonstration CD featuring 11 tracks of original Britten and Stone material. The soon-to-be completed project was co-produced by Gary Stone and Dirk Johnson, whose latest production effort, "Another River" by Mercury recording artist Harley Allen, has garnered rave reviews in the music press.
