You don't have to be a cowboy (or cowgirl!) to love LeAnn. Her incredible voice, breathtaking beauty, elegance and poise cause her to seem much older than her sixteen years. That's what makes LeAnn Rimes so special. Remember,

Late Breaking LeAnn News
On January 30, Curb Records released the latest album from LeAnn, I Need You. It has her hits from the Aida, Jesus and Coyote Ugly soundtracks, as well as several new songs. Though the album has a more popish feel than previous releases, this is not LeAnn's much anticipated pop album. Also, the Coyote Ugly soundtrack is back on the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart. So keep you eyes and ears peeled for LeAnn!!!
At the 7th annual Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, LeAnn is up for favorite movie song for "Can't Fight the
Moonlight" from Coyote Ugly. The soundtrack to the movie is nominated for Best Soundtrack. Winners will be chosen by fans
who vote in Blockbuster stores or online. The show will be aired live April 11 on Fox. And, The Jesus Miniseries soundtrack was nominated for Special Event Album at the 2001 Dove Awards. Good luck LeAnn!!
In a letter to her fans on her official website, RimesTimes, LeAnn talked candidly about her lawsuits and her new album.
LeAnn posed with two of her dogs for the 2001 Ralston Purina
Incredible Dogs Calendar. The calender, filled with exclusive photos of celebrities and their pets, was released to benefit Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), and nearly $250,000 in donations have already been raised. Even though LeAnn has been diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr Virus, causing chronic fatigue, she never seems to rest. She is back on the road again, after having to cancel several shows in her 30-date tour. She is also taking part in the new IMAX movie depicting the history of Country Music. The film centers on an unhappy Irish boy, played by 12-year-old actor Austin Stout, whose musician father is forced to immigrate to the United States because of the potato famine of the 1840s. Magically, the boy is whisked through time and space
to, of all places, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge in Nashville in the
mid-1940s, where Alan Jackson is performing the Hank Williams
honky-tonk classic "Hey Good Lookin". From there, the boy gets a tour of the various periods and branches of country music, with stops including Martina McBride singing Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight", Vince Gill singing "How Great Thou Art" in a small country church, a leather-clad Tim McGraw on a motorcycle running from the cops in a tribute to the country-music outlaws of the 1970s, and most importantly LeAnn singing Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man". The project began shooting last month and should finish up in November.
LeAnn is unfortunately involved in yet another law suit. She is suing Curb Records to be released from the contract her parents signed when she was 12. She wants Curb Records to turn over the rights to all of her past recording and music-video work, relinquish publishing interests in her compositions and immediately destroy all of her
recordings now being distributed. LeAnn's Dallas attorney, Tom Rhodus, said that because she is 18, she has a right to be released from the contract her parents signed. "We're not saying ... [the record company was] taking advantage of her, that it was a bad contract or good contract, but she can tell you she thinks she can do a lot better," Mr. Rhodus said. "Her career has blossomed, something that couldn't be predicted when she was 12
years old. LeAnn simply wants to be her own person. She wants to speak for herself, and she wants to make her own deals." However, John David, an attorney for Curb Records, said he thinks LeAnn will not be able to shed the contract, because state courts in Dallas and Nashville affirmed it in 1995. "All I can tell you is that it would be my opinion that she has a valid and binding agreement," he said. "That is the law." The lawsuit was filed this week, and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. We can only hope that everything will work out for the best for LeAnn, her family and Curb Records.
