Charles David Robbins was born May 26, 19?? in Atlanta, GA. to Bill and Margaret Robbins. He began taking piano lessons at the age of 6 and continued his studies through his college years. Dave attended Truett-McConnell College, where he received an Associate Degree before moving to Nashville to study in the music program at Belmon University.
Dave's musical influences included Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, Alabama, and Glenn Campbell. When he began writing songs, these were song like no other and songs that Restless Heart took and made them what they were. Songs like, "Long Lost Friend", "Jenny Come Back", and "Sweet Auburn", all of which are my favorite Restless Hear songs, were just a few of many songs Restless Heart recorded of Daves.
Dave met Van Stephenson shortly after moving to Nashville in 1979. Van introduced Dave and his music to Bob Montgomery, House of Gold publisher. Dave was eventually signed as a staff writer which launched his career.
Dave's first songs were released four years after signing with House of Gold. These sons were "All My Life", by Kenny Rogers and "Everybody's Dream Girl", by Dan Seals. Dave and Van wrote a number of songs which were recorded by such artists as Restless Heart, Reba McEntire and Eric Clapton.
In 1990, Dave and Van met Henry and together they formed BlackHawk, the most successful and caring trio in country music in my eyes. BlackHawk has released three albums so far: BlackHawk, Strong Enough, and Love&Gravity. The song writing and performances on these albums made the guys what they are today. Dave has brought unique and special qualities to BlackHawk. His talents to write songs, harmonize and keyboard talents make him a special and exceptional addition to BlackHawk.
Dave's family support comes from his wife, Mary Lynn, who he married in August of 1979, his son David, born in December of 1985, his son Trey, born in May of 1989. We thank you for your support. Dave is also an avid golfer!!
