A review from Muze:
Kevin Sharp is nothing short of a powerhouse, and he proves it with LOVE IS.
A muscular vocal style is Sharp's signature and he flexes it at every opportunity throughout the 11 pop-flavored tracks. With just as much Boz Scaggs as Vince Gill, Sharp's style draws from a wide variety of influences in both the country and Top 40 camps. Atypical sounds abound; a scratchy guitar here, an R&B flavored rhythm track there, to signal that Sharp is an artist that will stand out in the crowd.
From one cut to the next, the listener can expect the unexpected. Standard country rockers are ever-present ("Kiss The Girl," "She Just Has To Be Mine"), but so are some standout songs that defy exact categorization. The delicate "If She Only Knew" has as much soul as any R&B ballad. A strong folk-rock influence is reflected in the message of "Love Is All That Really Matters."
Finally, if "My Love Is" doesn't make you remember the days of Kenny Loggins' reign as a Top 40 monarch, then you just aren't listening hard enough.

A review from Country Weekly magazine:
Emotion shines through on Kevin Sharps' second album - 11 sleekly produced examples of up-to-the-minute contemporary country.
The jittery beat and forthright story of frightened but intense young lovers in "Scared Like That Again" mark it as a natural single. But there are plenty of other strong entries.
If there's a weakness here, it's the reliance on ballads, although it's tough to blame the soon-to-be-wed singer if he has romance on the mind. And he's good at them: "So Tears Won't Fall" is an eye-dampener and Sharp displays his skills as a writer by contributing to the sadness of "Still Love."
He does pick up the tempo nicely on the near-pop "Kiss the Girl," the flighty and easygoing "Love Is All That Really Matters," and "My Love Is," a high-energy declaration of commitment.
His debut album Measure of A Man, and its big hit "Nobody Knows" marked Kevin as a promising newcomer. This collection of strong material should solidify his position among the ranks of hot young singers.

A review from the April 4, 1998 Billboard magazine:
Kevin Sharp, who gained prominence as a cancer survivor who attained his dream of becoming a country singer, has convinced country observers that he has the chops to maintain a viable career. He's most effective with punched-up, emotional, uptempo ballads and expressive tunes such as "So Tears Won't Fall" or "The "Last Time." Sharp has a winning delivery that works on the current single, the Caribbean-tinged "Love Is All That Really Matters," but the overwhelming impression here is of a collection of disparate songs - five co-written by producer Chris Farren - that don't impressively stand out from the current pack of Nashville compositions. His live appearances are effectively emotion-charged, but that doesn't necessarily carry over to an album.
