ALL ABOUT ME!! |
March 14, 2002 Wow, last year was really fun! I had the honor of being the Hancock County Beef Queen, and show awesome animals. My cow/calf pair made me so proud when they won the Angus cow/calf trophy, but they almost made me faint when they won Over-all Cow/Calf Champion! I was happy to retire Empress from the showring and turn her out to pasture where she can relax and enjoy her life of having calves. Empress and Rose are doing awesome. We are expecting a calf from Empress within a month. My heifer, Retta, made me just as proud when she won her heifer class and went on to win Reserve Angus Heifer. She won't be having a calf this year, but we will be breeding her to have one definitely next year. The horses did just as good as the cattle! I was humbled a little when I took Courtney to be bred by the vet last year; she came back open. They suggested to bring her back in a month to breed her again. I was then overjoyed when she stuck that time and now have "baby's first picture" (ultrasound) on the 'frig. I'm looking forward to seeing a foal on the ground around June. I don't know which I want more, filly or colt, but I do know that I would just like to see it alive, normal, and healthy. Kirby did awesome showing last year. He actually had quite a busy year. Between shows we gave lessons. The first show he set our record, 4 trophies in one show plus 2 more firsts. The second show we matched that record! He didn't place below third all year. We now have about 3 lesson girls for this spring. They are all learning rapidly. One of them will be showing him in some 12 and under classes (mainly walk/trot) this spring. Whenever Kirby and I go to shows she will be tagging along showing him, too. I think this will be very neat. Its not often I get to see my horse show, and I am glad to share him with my lesson girls. Kirby can't mind it too much, if we didn't keep working out he would get fat on all of the apples they give him! On August 15, 2001, my brother finally let us meet his girlfriend. Upon this time, he announced to us that they are engaged! After the shock of this news was gone, Elizabeth moved in with mom, dad, and I until the wedding. Its is on April 27, 02 and approaching rapidly! In the midst of everything happening I managed to keep a good relationship with the greatest guy in the world. (Maybe 2nd, isn't dad supposed to be THE greatest?) Anyways, Barrie and I managed to see each other about every five weeks. This is pretty good as we live 300 miles apart. In October when mom and I went to the Morgan Grand Nationals in OKC, we stopped by Barrie's on the way down and on the way back up. He then came up to see me for my birthday, christmas/new years', and valentines day. I also got to see him at Rodeo in Sept. ~*~ More Recently ~*~ In January I start school. I am going to SCC and am in the Ag. program. I really like my classes and teachers. I will be getting out April 20 to leave for my internship. We are learning a lot; soil nutrients and soil fertility, livestock breeding, and beef management. I have been super busy with cramming my head with lots of useful knowledge. Feb. 25, I went to the IL Angus Futurity looking to buy a heifer. I looked at all of them and narrowed it down to 3, 2 of which I knew were going to go way out of my price range. I left the sale with the one heifer I had really went to get, Siebrings New Lady S115. An April 1 daughter of SVF Siebrings Forever Russ. She is a naturally thick muscled, deep bodied heifer that will fit right into my cow herd. March 5 my cow ,Lady had a nice bull calf. Fame's Rowdy Reuben is going to be a very nice bull and I will probably be taking it to the LaMoine Valley Spring Sale in 2003. March 12, my "baby", Shania, had her 3rd calf for me. He is an extremely nice bull calf. Since he is an Angus cross he will be one awesome show steer! He is sired by our bull, Fortune's Excelled. I haven't officially named this calf, but Jacob and Sawyer have come up. I can't decide what to name him! ~*~ Coming Up ~*~ March 23- I will be showing "Grace", Siebrings New Lady S115, at a show! I'm looking forward to this show and will be going there with confidence! March 25- April 1 or 2 I will be on Spring Break. Since this falls right on Easter what better way to spend my break than with my boyfrien Barrie. Barrie and I will be going to his mom's place and celebrating it there with not only his mom, but sister and her family. I think some Uncles, Aunts and cousins might show up too, but I'm not sure! I am VERY excited to meet them all!! ALL OF MAY- I will be gone on my internship, wherever that is...... The first weekend of June I will be showing Grace again at the Illinois Spotlight Show in Champagne, IL. Thats all for now! Thanks for stopping by and reading all of this. I hope you enjoy the pictures, too! Lindsey |
