High Power Committee

Realising the employment potential in the KVI Sector, the High Power Committee constituted under the Chairmanship of the then Hon'ble Prime Minister recommended several measures to revitalise this sector.

Important mandate

  • Creation of additional 2 million jobs.

  • Doubling of Khadi Production.


This mandate is to be achieved through new schemes in addition to expansion of normal programme.

Emphasis is to provide tools and implements to the artisans in Khadi as well as various Village Industries. For example, New Model Charkhas and improved looms are given in order to enable the artisans to get more wages because of increased productivity. So is the case with Shaila Potter's Wheels improved bee-boxes and many more such equipments in the KVI field.
