Khadi and Village Industries Commission has set up training infrastructure to equip and upgrade the skill necessary for the job and also for transfer of technology to the cutting edge level.
Presently, Commission has programmes of training of artisans, unit level workers, managers, supervisory technical staff and training programme for officers and staff of KVIC, State UT KVI Boards and its implementing agencies.
Training activities of KVIC are being carried out with the help of 11 departmental 23 non-departmental and 10 production cum training centres under Industry Directorates.
During the year 1996-97, the total number of artisans trained under Khadi and Village Industries was 15497. The number of women candidates trained during the year was 8563 including SC and ST candidates. Of late, KVIC has entered into collaboration with various reputed organisation like EDI, Ahmedabad for:

1. Strengthening the existing training programme in new industries and for imparting Entrepreneurship Trainers Training Programme, and


2. National Institute for Hearing handicapped for training of hearind handicapped persons in KVI sector taking self-entrepreneurship programme.
