SHS is short for Sarasota High School. We are located in Sarasota, Florida and have a population of about 2000 students
on an 85 acre campus. Denise Erb is the teacher of Marine Science,
Physical Science, and Reaserch 1 & 2. Marine Science is a class for those interested in Marine Biology and
Oceanography. Living so close to the Gulf of Mexico, we do a lot of labs on the water and we have our own boat! This class deals with
the Ocean and its lifeforms. Physical Science is the required Freshman Science course, it deals with basic
Chemistry and Physics. Research 1 & 2 are part of the MaST program a acronym for Math and Science
Technology.It is a specialized program for those students that are interested in going into medical careers or engineering. This class requires authentic student research.
