John Terry Lewis that’s his name.
He’s ninety years old,
And he’s gotta a story to be told.
Well, now it all started when he met that girl,
And he knew he’d found his pearl.
Yea, the Lord sent a message straight to his heart,
And it said, “Marry that girl if your smart!”
This is that special lady they all called Ma,
And she called you Pa.
Ma was pretty as a daisy,
But never, ever call her lazy.
She’d cook you a meal and send ya to school,
Sayin, “No child of mine gonna be no fool!”
She’d take you to church and sing some songs,
Then Ma tell ya, “This is where you all belongs!”
Ma was a lady full of love.
Always giving lots of hugs and kisses,
That we surely all do misses.
Now you had a few tears and you had some fears,
But you trusted in God together,
And made it through all kinds of
weather.
Well, now our Ma is so happy in heaven.
So don’t be sad, just put on a grin,
Cause we’re all going over there to see her agin.
Now being a farmer, You reaped a lot of crops.
You had a lotta sons and daughters, who are the tops.
Well, there’s the number one lady and her name is Florence.
She teaches school,
And obeys the golden rule.
When it’s time to eat,
Florence cooks a dinner that can’t be beat.
Peas from the garden, fish from the pond,
Sweet ice tea, and some good old cornbread I sure am fond.
Then came the son and is name is Clatie,
And like his name He’s one of a kind,
Truly indeed a rare find.
They said He couldn’t, But, He said I CAN!
And He became a Certified Public Accounter Man!
He’ll paint your house or kill the mouse.
He’ll change your oil or toil your soil.
He’ll tell you about Jesus at the drop of a hat.
Well, how about that, He’s my dad,
And I sure am proud!!
I’ll say it again and yell it right out loud!!
Now we all remember Thurmond,
He was a jack of all trades.
A preacher and a teacher to name a few.
He liked to fix up old cars and could even speak Greek.
A very fine man any time of the week!
Now there’s George,
Who you can go and ask about any old thing.
Yea, He knows what cooks,
Cause He looks and looks in all those books.
He works in a school,
And has become a mighty fine educational tool.
Well, James is another,
And He’s a real Brother!
A mighty fine preacher and a bible teacher.
He’s kinda slow and make you feel right at home.
But when it comes to eatin, Don’t get in his way,
Cause its in the kitchen He likes to stay!
And there was that pretty red headed girl,
What’s her name?
Why, it’s Sara Ann,
And now there’s a darling grandchild,
That looks just the same.
Now, say hey to Ray,
Who was once small and thin,
Well, look at him now, He’s a doctor of skin!
Now He’s a working, way out west,
And surely giving his very best.
I think He really has passed the test.
And there’s Vera May,
Who’s special to our hearts.
Quick with a hug, and even a smack.
Love is something She didn’t lack!
She’s last but not least,
So give a Texas Howdy Do to Martha Lou.
She’s so very fine looking.
A sweet southern Peach,
And by the way, She can teach!
Now, Pa, your children learned well.
Cause they produced lots of fruit as we all can tell.
Seven grandaughters and nine grandsons,
Here are all the beautiful ones:
Patricia and Diane, Jocile and Lewis, Steve, Ken, and Len,
Randy and Debbie, Denise, Scott and Mike, Charolette Ann,
Danny, Kim and James Aaron who sure is tall,
And by the way, there’s 16 in all.
There’s 13 great grand children and one on the way.
I think that’s current, at least
for today.
Thank you Pa,
For being such a fine Man.
One who really fit the Master’s plan.
You showed us the Way,
And we all thank you Today.
Showed em what it was like to make a living,
And taught em a lot about giving.
Showed em what it was to be a Man.
Never say Can’t!
Say I Can!
Taught em to trust in the Lord,
And to abide in His Sword!
You taught em to never lie,
And gave them precious things money can’t buy!
Yes indeed, your God’s kind of farmer.
You sowed the seed and whipped the weed.
And now you’ve reaped a mighty fine crop!
HAPPY! HAPPY! BIRTHDAY! GRANDPOP!!!
