Ajax this week:
Nice touch, unmistakenly. Why not invite a lot of ex-Ajax-players to joing the
party? The answer to that question could be that Ajaxfans prefer to have as
little witnesses to the play as possible. Cause to stay honest, how can a player
from the past react when he sees Ajax blunder like tonight and the last few weeks?
Tonight was no exception. For the occassion dressed in the original Ajaxshirts, Ajax
played like the men who once wore those shirts but at the age those heroes would
be now. Weak, no selfconfidence, spoiled, arrogant, not the least energetic to
climb back up from the 5th place they got in last wednesday. All ingredients that
could not be overseen by fate. Ajax did not deserve to win and they did not.
Again a poor goalkeeper Grim opened his goal for Vennegoor of Hesseling who
scored the only goal of the match in the 24th minute. That is the 0-1 defeat
that can not go unpunished. No more commitees that try to find reasons for
the downfall...Drastic measurements. The trainer, he must get out soon, the
players have a choice..If they start playing energetic and with technique and
unsurrendering they can stay, those who do not comply, fire them.
Angry words, spoken by a disappointed fan. A fan that hopes for a
turn around in the results, but has hoped that for many weeks in a row now
A fan who does not care more for points than for attractive play, but gets
neither one of them. A fan by the name of Willem is pretty ashamed of his
squad at the moment.The season will end dramatically is my current
prediction.
Ajax next week:And next week on March 26th,another sunday afternoon game
home against NEC. A team that also never wins. But next week they must be
confident when they travel to the town that once upon a time made opponents
shiver. The chances are 50%-50% and that sadly is no joke....

Competition this week:
PSV will win the title that much seems sure. With an ease that almost seemed
arrogant it took care of de Graafschap at home. 4 goals of Bruggink in the total
of 6-0 were absolutely a good performance. And now Ajax seems to have
given up in the championshipsrace it is better that PSV takes it than Feyenoord.
Feyenoord is now in second place and were lucky in Leeuwarden against
Cambuur,winning with 2-3 but with a few narrow escapes from a draw.
Vitesse looked very weak when they lost to and in Utrecht this weekend, a 2-0
loss was their share. Heerenveen is still in full battle motion. It keeps track of the
2 leaders PSV and Feyenoord, winning with 3-1 at home,again 2 goals from
solid playing Lurling. AZ did not play and because of the win of Twente
the table now shows a fight for the second place between Feyenoord,
FC Twente and Heerenveen. Ajax has to fear AZ for their 5th place.

Moment of the week:
Great festivitities. Concerts, ballroomdresses and a very satisfied chairman
A person who would not know better, would think that Ajax is still in the
race for the Champions League. But nothing of that all is true, the competition
is lost this season. But let's forget about the current troubles for a second and
think what 100 years Ajax brought the fans. 4 Champion Leagues, 27 titles,
2 Worldcups and a truckload of phenomenal players make a history to be
very proud of. And of course those good times will come back, so let's not
complain too much but congratulate the 100 year old footballclub from
Amsterdam, cause they have given loads of joy to loads of fans and that
counts for a lot more than one lost season...Hip Hip Hooraay!!!
