Dr. Regan found this cichlid in 1922 and called it Haplochromis Fuscotaeniatus. The name means dusky sky in Latin, which the color pattern looks like the night coloration of many marine coral fishes. The male will have an purplish blue on his head and goese on back of the body, when keept in the dark or is scared will show there dark pattern. Trade Name: Haplochromis Fusco. Distribution: only found in the southern half of the lake. Size: Males will reach 10 inches and the femalesabout 8 inches long. Food: will eat about anything you feed it. They will eat smaller fish they are a predator. |
