Wecome to Darla's Agility page!

Darla is a wonderful Agility dog and great fun to show. She has both her Open Standard Title and  her Open Jumpers w/ Weaves Title. We are pictured at the Australian Shepherd Nationals in Marshall, Texas where Darla placed third and acquired her first Open Standard leg. Darla is a jumping fool! She loves Agility and can't get enough. You can see by these pictures how she really puts her heart and soul into "jumping!"

I could write a book on Darla and weave poles! She learned them in a matter of weeks and at her first show doing them with confidence I gave a second comand and accidentally hit her in the mouth. As you can see by this picture for me to do that I had to lean over.  I remember when I did it, I said "Go weave!" a second time and she looked up at me as if to say "I am weaving! What do you think I'm doing?" By then it was too late and I had made contact with her. After that - I would send her into the weaves and she would stop and look at me as if to say "Are you sure this time or are you going to hit me in the mouth again?" She would do them in the back yard just fine,but at every Trial she got a refusal or two on the weaves. Once she even sat down with her back towards me at the weaves. Took us about a year to work through it.

Teaching her the contact obstacles was great fun! She loved to climb the A-Frame so I used it as a reward for something else she didn't like - "sitting, the down, staying!" Anything that made her stop moving - she was against!
