Dogs don't know what abuse is.
Dogs don't know they did anything wrong.
There are no bad dogs. Just Bad owners.
Abuse is something we should not have to face, something dogs should not have to face. What society do we live in this is an issue? Animals are like children - they are moldable to the point that if you want to make a dog be a perfect family pet, you can. If you want your dog to 'hate' (Dogs cannot truly hate, but pretend to to please the owner) everything and everybody, they'll do that too. No dog will be mean unless it has been taught to be. Even the bad-rep Pit Bulls and Stafforshire Terriers are awesome dogs if you give them a chance and socialize them right.
There are two types of abuse.
- Physical Abuse
Hitting, slapping, kicking, killing, burning, that sort of thing. When the dog does something bad, the person will literally beat the crap out of the dog. There is a difference between a slight 'No' tap and a bruising abusive hit. There is also starving a Dog from food or water. If you see someone abusing their dog, call the local Human Society or SPCA with your suspicion.
There is also a more drastic part to this. People literally set dogs on fire, but them in boxes and shoot arrows or guns through the box, strangle, hang with leash and collars, starved…why? Because people are to stupid, to cruel, to low living to CARE.
- Mental Abuse
You maybe be thinking, "How can you give a dog mental abuse? They don't take name-calling" Well, yes they can but what I mean is when you stuff the dog in the backyard, in a fence or on a chain, and LEAVE THEM THERE. Oh yes, you feed and water them. Say hi once and awhile, but they are a LAWN ORNAMENT, not a dog. This happened to one of my dogs. He was out on that chain three years strait. He was a dog-hating possessive biter. His fault? Never. If his previous owners had gotten up long enough to teach him so much as the word "No", to take him to a social group as a pup, to teach him how to live in a HOUSE, I'd still have him.
But they where to ****ing lazy to. And my Basenji, Star, SUFFERED FROM THEIR SHIFTLESSNESS. Today, he is dead because of a human.
What can you do? DON'T ABUSE YOUR DOG. It starts with you. And it can end with you. If you see abuse, report it. If you don't, you're turning your back on the Dogs. Please, if you won't do it for me, do it for Star.
