"What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness?" (Rousseau)

Hello and welcome to the home page of Citizens for Animal Protection, Inc. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing protection and support for abused and neglected horses and other equines.

CAP was founded in 1989 after four horses were found starved to death in Thomaston, CT. Their deaths uncovered serious needs in Connecticut, the state with the highest horse population per square mile. We vowed never to let this happen again.

This is the kind of neglect were are trying to put an end to.

If you would like to see this kind of neglect ended, please consider a donation to CAP. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, your donation will be fully tax deductible. We are an all volunteer organization and therefore 100% of your donation goes towards the rehabilitation of the horses in our care.

Our site is currently under construction, so please bookmark it so you can come back at a later date and check for improvements. Pages are constantly being added, so come back often.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, you can mail it to:

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer your time, please email us.
