THE "GREASER" LOOK...
THE "GREASER"LOOK....
I just love the 50s greaser look. The cuffed dark bluejeans, motorcycle boots, the black leather jacket and of course the James Dean hairstyle. I have added some of my own personal touches to it as well,  such as a Billy Idol style ring like the ones he wore in all his performances,, a chain wallet and the 50s "dog-tags " that were my Grandpa's and were given to me after he pasted away by my Grandma. I also were a pair of black aviator Ray Ban sunglasses just like the ones Jimmy wore. My shirts however are retro style shirts like the ones from the 50s or I go to vintage clothing stores and find actual ones. This pretty much completes my look. I also wear the 50s sports suits like Jimmy would wear, like the ones he wore to school in Rebel.
HOW IT CAME ABOUT......
Back in 1996, my Grandpa sadly past away. At the funeral there was a old photograph of him from the 50s on this memorial board. He was dressed like a greaser and was leaning up against an old Ford smoking a Camel Cigarette with the pack tucked in the rolled-up cuff of his shirt. When I saw this I was like cool, and wanted to dress like that. But with my ill attempts I could not find anything that looked like that era. Finally after seeing "Rebel Without A Cause" I finally decided to track all over town and find those clothes. I began dressing like that but it just did not look right with the hair length. I had just finished my last year of R.O.T.C. in high school and my hair had not grown out yet. After about 2 months it was finally long enough and had my sister take me to her hairstylist and cut it just like James Dean's. The next school year that August I went back to school and  everyone was walking up to me and asking if i was a rebel. Since that day I love the attention I get from the look, old people walk by and tell me they remember that look and its like they feel young again all the sudden.
