Opening the parcel! The package is jam packed full of beads and things! Here I am reading Noras note.
The favours! After hearing everyone elses comments about their favours I was anxious to see one - and Nora (aka the star) sent me one!! Its a little blue basket, inside is a chocolate, a pink ribbon rose and a pretty little gold charm - I got a locket :)
The stuff well this is all the goodies (less one package of ribbon and cards that I received AFTER I took the photos) as you can see (this is a single bed) there is tons of SRE and embroidery stuff!!! So then I faced the task of washing and ironing all the ribbons ... and thank you to everyone involved Im now well trained in ironing and washing :)
The Plan this was my origional plan of my dress
The dress Next step was to get the completed dress from the dressmaker, here are the front, side and back veiws (I put it on the model, because the first time I want Sos to see me in it is on the wedding day - he scans these pics!) Anyway you can see the dress is very similar to my dress plan and Im very grateful to Dawn the dressmaker for that! It is georgette lined with satin and fits perfectly!
The embroidery Here is the embroidery in order from the beginning, I didnt put the green leaves or any beading in now as I want to do the greenery from the top to the botton (starting from light green at the top down to darker green at the bottom)
I started at the bottom of the dress so that I could work on it wile it was on the dressmakers model, I have now finished (December 6) the skirt and will work with the entire dress in my hands!! (doing the bodice)
In these pictures you should see (pic #1)a little black box, inside is a bee, this was a gift from Carole - it is a "Joan Rivers Bee Pin" her friend in England, Kate made me a stumpwork ladybird (in the box next to the bee) both for my dress! Also nearby you should see my teacup pincushion, next to it is a strawberry needlesharpener :) I made these a while ago.
I seperated all the ribbon colours into seperate containers; blue, purple, pink, yellow, green and white. This makes it easier to find colours and the ribbons dont crease or curl very much - you can see the some of the containers in the background.
30 December 1999 Update! My dress is almost finished, I estimate another 10 more hours and then it should be finished!! Ive completed the ribbon flowers and most of the green leaves ... only about 4 more hours on the bottom of the dress and then Ill do the beading and make sure all the ends are caught up nicely at the back.
So far I have done 41 hours on the dress!!
Thank you to all my SRE friends, you made this possible and Ill add more pictures soon!
