Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Woody Allen, 2008) 8.9
For anyone who likes Allen I must recomand the excellent book by Eric Lax; Conversations with Woody Allen. For those who haven’t read it, well go get it! Since Match Point, some critics said Allen has found back his inspiration. I would say he never lost it! But I won’t argue on that debate right now. I must say I like how he uses Scarlett Johansson since Match Point. Vicky Cristina Barcelona is a classic Allen story that can be compared for some elements to Manhattan. But I must say but for some elements only. These two films are far in time and in their treatment. This fits perfectly well into the Allenian cinematography and proves the man still got the touch to tell a good story with jazzy soundtracks and relationships between humans. |
