October 27th, 1998
I few days ago I was on vacation in Los Angeles.  We were driving downRodeo Drive when we saw the Planet Hollywood Beverly Hills.  I needed some souvenirs from there, so we decided to stop.  When I walked in I saw the poster for "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" and right next to it was a sign that said, "Planet Hollywood Events/Oct25/6:30pm/Jennifer Love Hewitt/Brandy/Freddie Prinze Jr."  Just as I had finished reading it my cousin said, "That's today."   Right away I started freaking out!  But since it was only 12:30pm, we figured we could go do some other stuff then come back later.  So at about 3:30pm we arrived back at the Planet Hollywood.  If you've ever been there, you know that on the bottom level as you walk in there are some tables, then some booths leading to a long booth along the back wall.  Well, we were seated at the first booth, which is right next to the back wall.  Anyways, as it grew closer and closer, I grew more and more excited, anxious, scared, etc.  At 5pm they started clearing out the tables by us to make room for a display table.  Then they set a small, matted poster, an axe, and the hook on the table.  At this point I'm really going nuts.  Then they started kicking people out of the seats by us, making room for the stars to be taped and all that good stuff.  We were supposed to get kicked out, but our waitors were so cool, they talked their manager into letting us stay there.  Then at 6:25pm my sister goes, "Katie, there she is! (referring to Jennifer Love, my idol.)  There she was going up the stairs behind me.  Then I saw Brandy right behind her.  Ten minutes later, (6:35pm for those with mathematical problems:) they announced the very first ever showing of the full "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" trailor!  Right after that, they announced, "Without further ado, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr, Mekhi Phifer, Brandy, and Matthew Settle!"  No one even clapped, we were all so in awe!!  I mean, they were no more than 3ft away from me, with nothing but air between us!!!  Eventually we all cheered, but it just took a minute.  The only word to describe the rest of the story is "surreal."  It turned out they were there to donate the hook from the two films.  They posed for some pics for the magazines and promo things, answered some questions about filming, the film in general, etc.  Just as they were leaving, Freddie took off the Planet Hollywood jacket that was given to him and the rest of the cast, and he put it on the kid sitting next to me!  The kid didn't even know who he was!!  Then Freddie came literally running back with a pen and said he had to sign it for the kid.  As he started running off again, I yelled, "Freddie!"  He came over and was all friendly.  I asked him if he could sign my shirt, then, "unless you're in a hurry, could I have a picture taken with you?"  He said sure, flashed that gorgeous smile of his at me, PUT HIS ARM AROUND ME, (HEHEHE, I'm giddy now remembering this:) and my sister took a picture!  Then he gave me a huge hug, (which my sister neglected to take a pic of, oh well) and ran off again.  I went chucking it over to try and catch Love and them, but they were just leaving, though I was only 2 ft behind them.  Oh well, cause Freddie was good enough for me!  We headed out back cause that's where we parked.  I stopped to put my shirt he signed in my bag when my sister yelled, "Katie, come here quick!"  There was Freddie just hanging out back.  So my bro-in-law just walked over, shook his hand, thanked him for taking a pic with me, and Freddie waved at me!!  That was definitely the best night of my life!  Freddie was SO unbelievably sweet, (and he smelled good, too:)  I've never been so happy I've cried, that is, until that night!
