Pueblo Indian Villages in Arizona and New Mexico
The sites of the present-day (solid circles) and several of the former (X) Hopi villages at the southern edge of Black Mesa in northeastern Arizona and (inset map) the locations of the other Pueblo Indian villages in New Mexico. Hopi names for the presently inhabited villages are: Wàlpi (Walpi), Sitsom'ovi (Sichomovi), Hanoki or Tewaki (Hano or Tewa), Musangnuvi (Mishongnovi), Supawlavi (Shipaulovi), Songòopavi (Shongopavi), Orayvi (Oraibi or Old Oraibi), Hotvela (Hotevilla), Paaqavi (Bacavi), Kiqötsmovi (Kykotsmovi or New Oraibi), Mùnqapi (Moencopi). Polacca is a Tewa word.
