The National Center for Recreation and Conservation (NCRC) fulfills ongoing mandates under five principal acts: Outdoor Recreation Act, Land and Water Conservation Fund Act, Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, National Trails System Act and Urban Park and Recreation Recovery Act. The center provides support and technical assistance to the field. The center is headed by the Assistant Director for Recreation and Conservation and was established in 1995 as part of the large restructuring of the National Park Service.
